Festivals bring the best acts and new ones you haven’t heard of to the forefront. Over the years, we have interviewed some of them such as The Used, Max Bemis of Say Anything and more. We look back at some of those conversations over the years with some of those friend’s who are slated to perform next weekend under the Florida sun.

3OH!3

When We Were Young 2024 led us to talk with the iconic duo, 3OH!3. The act recently dropped a new single, “Hit Me Harder,” and keeps true to their origins of electro-party goofballs who are one of the most serious in the nostalgia game.

Anberlin

Losing a singer means gaining another, and proves the theory that being a fan of a band, will always lead to the best endgame. Memphis May Fire vocalist Matty Mullins and Anberlin guitarist Christian McAlhaney sat down with us during the 20 Years of Tears Tour with Hawthorne Heights in 2024 to talk about their new line-up. We also caught up with them this year at House of Blues Chicago and spoke with drummer, Nate Young.

Bowling for soup

Back in 2023, Jaret Reddick, the singer of Bowling For Soup, spoke with us during Riot Fest about their legacy and his solo country LP Just Woke Up.

Boys like girls

One of the longer fests interviews we’ve had was with Martin Johnson during When We Were Young last year. He spoke about the impact of the act within the pop-punk/emo scene while giving more insight to his own perspectives of BLG.

Escape The Fate

Craig Mabbitt virtually spoke with us about his side-project Dead Rabbitts in 2024. Of course, we also touched on his time in Escape The Fate.

letlive. - Fever333

After seeing them on their The Blackest Beautiful Tour this past fall, and briefly talking with frontman Jason Aalon Butler after their Chicago stop, we sat down with the act to discuss their comeback, new music, and what community in the scene means for them.

Games We Play & Yellowcard

The first year we did press at the Big Emo Vegas Fest included chats with Emmyn Calleiro and Sean Mackin of Yellowcard. The video podcast includes other talks with Rise Against, Cassadee Pope and more.

Gym Class hereos

Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes performed at Riot Fest this year and detailed out how mentorship from Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump helped him in his professional journey.

Honey Revenge

Vocalist Devin Papadol of Honey Revenge spoke with us after their set at Riot Fest this year. She addresses the fact that Kevin Lyman calls him one of his “favorite” band.

Mayday Parade

Before their Chicago show on the Three Cheers for 20 Years tour, singer Derek Sanders of Mayday Parade spoke with us at Loud Pizza Records.

Millionare$

Melissa Marie Green and Meredith Hurley make-up the iconic duo that are the Millionaire$. We spoke to them last year about bows, their return to the scene, and what it’s like to have Hurley as a new addition to the act.

Movements

Patrick Miranda is the lead singer of Movements. After reviewing their Feel Something during our LP review run last year, we needed to talk to him and apologize for sleeping on the act for so long.

Plain White t’s

Our hometown homies, The Plain White T’s caught up with us at When We Were Young Fest this year to discuss 20 years of All That We Needed, their Jonas Brothers stage cameo’s and more. We previously talked with singer Tom Higginson in 2021 for his 80s inspired side-project, Million Miler.

Senses Fail

Buddy Nielsen digitally talked with us last year before When We Were Young Fest about their LP play of Still Searching and how life is like being in a band for over 20 years.

State Champs

Our “best friend” Derek Discano and the entirety of State Champs talked with us about their pop-punk antics during When We Were Young 2024.

Taylor Acorn

Taylor Acorn discussed how mental health influences her music and what it’s like to perform at the large Vegas fest, this year.

The Devil Wears Prada

We reviewed Plagues prior to speaking with The Devil Wears Prada, and while both of us didn’t agree, we can’t help but to love the act who also have some Chicago roots.

The Wonder Years

We love The Wonder Years so much, we’ve interviewed them THRICE. Our most recent discussion with the act included Dan “Soupy” Campbell at Riot Fest this past year.

Winona Fighter

The Rise Records band rose to prominence thanks to their consistency on TikTok and absolute alt-rock bangers. We spoke to them twice, but most recently met up with them at House of Blues Chicago when they opened for Bayside in 2024.
